Faith that Heals

“He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”” MARK 5:34

A woman had an incurable bleeding condition for 12 years until she heard about Jesus. At that time, Jesus was surrounded by a large crowd. Surprisingly, this woman reached out to Jesus’ cloak for healing, but she did it secretly, fearing humiliation and shame. But He calls her anyway.

This woman reminds us that Jesus is the only one who can heal the wounds that we carry, may it be physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. Sometimes, we get too afraid to go to Him because we feel ashamed of what we’re going through. We feel as if we would disgrace Him because we’re too dirty and sinful. But God doesn’t want perfect. He wants those unclean, broken, and imperfect people. He wants them to acknowledge Him as the ultimate Savior.

There is no point in hiding and running away from Him because He already knows what you are going through in the first place. He just wants us to step up and come to Him. God’s grace isn’t limited to those who sin less. It is always available for all sinners like you and me. He is always ready to rescue us, no matter how deep we are into sin or how severe our sickness is. He is there, ready to save us from what we think is impossible. We’re just a step away from Him. He’s been waiting for us to touch Him.

Jesus said in the Scripture that it was the woman’s faith that healed her, not her touch. It was her confidence in Him that changed her life. We must never let our fear get into the way of us approaching Him. We’ll never know how much it could also change our life or even other people’s lives. After the woman demonstrated her faith, Jesus then gave her healing and peace. So when we see Him and know that we need Him, may we have the boldness to claim Him and His promises.
