2 Corinthians 12:9-10 He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
The author of Hebrews said that “our high priest is not incapable of sympathizing with our weaknesses” (Hebrews 4:15), because He has been tempted in everything just like us, and He is very able to understand and help us.
Many times, we don’t even have the power to turn to the Lord and rely on the Lord. Sometimes it’s even worse as if we don’t even have the power to climb back to the Lord, and all hope of salvation is lost… Dear brothers and sisters, please don’t be discouraged, even if we lost our faith, the Lord is still faithful.
With his unchanging love, our Lord Jesus, the high priest who ascended to the heavens and honorable high priest, still pray for us before the Father in heaven (Hebrew 7:25), so that “everyone who comes to God by relying on him, he can save to the end.” He lives in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, becoming the source of our strength, and praying for us according to God’s will, as Paul said, “Our weakness is helped by the Holy Spirit…” (Romans 8:26) .
Through our experience, we not only realize our weakness and limitation, but also learn to accept the support given by others in a humble manner. Our spiritual journey must pass the point of realizing our sins and weakness to that we may enter a new realm.
From here, we can learn to let go of ourselves and accept Jesus. Only then we will be willing to abandon ourselves and exalt Christ; only then we can realize that “it is no longer me, but Christ” is the secret of victory for the children of God, and only then we can truly understand what is meant by “when I am weak, then I am strong,” we can even often boast our weakness, so that the power of Christ can cover us.
This is the value of “weakness” experience, which enables us to truly “gain strength from weakness.”
