“Go and proclaim in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord, “I remember concerning you the devotion of your youth, the love of your betrothals, you’re following after Me in the wilderness” Jeremiah 2:2
Relationships demand devotion to maintain intimacy. If love loses its devotion it becomes shaky. And surely relationships will not work. Everyone has freedom to express pure love, loyalty to the beloved and spend quality time with each other. In this case, the relationship becomes stronger, and grows healthier. Everyone deserves strong and healthy relationships, and it will start through devotion.
In the same way, our relationship with God needs a strong devotion with Him. A quality time with Him develops intimacy and spiritual maturity. In our life, how busy we are, God wants us to be loyal to Him as He is to us. God is omnipresent, meaning he is everywhere. We do not have any reasons not to devote ourselves to him since He is present everywhere. We cannot escape from his presence.
Whenever, wherever, we can spend time with him. It is up to us, our choice. God gave us everything, time, food, shelter, clothes and even our finances, career, positions, fame etc. We should be grateful that God gave it to us, but it is unfair on His side if we will not give our best to Him. He asks our time, devotion, and our sincere love to Him.
God commanded Jeremiah to remind the people of Israel that God remembered their devotion of their youth as a newlywed couple. When we forget the good things in our past, we have a loving God to remind us of all of them. Now, the question is, when was the last time you made your devotion with God? He missed your time with Him. He longed for you to go back in His loving presence. His presence is the safest place in this world.
Man needs to devote himself to God for apart from God we are nothing. Devotion with consistency will lead us into a peaceful life. It will keep us from any trouble in life. Maybe there will be times that we encounter problems, but we are confident that God will solve it for us.
Devotion to God makes a big impact in our life, it will change our perspective in life. It gives us clear direction. It gives us satisfaction in life. And it will make our life complete. Devotion to God is the most important decision that you will make today.
