If I knew then what I know now, I would say to myself,
“Hey younger me! Take a look in the mirror. Say to yourself. God loves you like crazy. Don’t try to fill up that hole inside with junk.
You will just mess it all up.”
We all have experienced our fair share of regrets in this life.
Our search for happiness and fulfillment leads us down the road to making bad decisions.
With regard to my particular life choices, I often wanted to hit the erase button and create a new “improved” version of my past.
In retrospect, I recognized my reality blueprint was one of heartache and failure. But then, it occurred to me how out of those same failures came life lessons.
From those same mistakes, I now see how God eventually brought glory to the dismal, by creating blessings from lessons.
We all have our “head banging” moments, where we could just kick ourselves for our dim witted mistakes and our short sighted mishaps.
But in the hands of a most capable God, our ashes will be transformed into beauty, our mourning into dancing.
So, instead of dwelling on things we have no control of, let us focus on our Lord, Whose Word proclaims in Isaiah 43:19
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
